For those not familiar with the Mahabharata – Karna was a war hero, born out of illegitimate means. He was endowed with a “Divine Armour” – a golden “Kavacha” during his birth gifted by his father. The Kavacha protected him at all times against the greatest of weapons, and essentially made him invincible at war. That Karna gave this precious inheritance away to charity because his enemies exploited his inability to say No is another matter.
Every human being has a Kavacha, which I call “An Envelope of Love” that surrounds him/her. It forms and strengthens with the good wishes, prayers, love and positive thoughts fed by not just that person alone, but by his family, relatives, friends, well wishers and most of all by people who have benefited from some random act of kindness shown by the person in the past. This Envelope forms a “protective ring” around him and gives him divine guidance when he needs it the most, and prevents/ alleviates the effect of mishaps that might otherwise be catastrophic. Similarly, acts displaying insensitivity and unfair treatment meted out to people reduce the intensity of the Kavacha, exposing the person more to the elements and leaving him to fend for himself.
I firmly believe in the “Invisible Hand”…not the one propagated by Adam Smith, and the followers of his market theory, but of Divine Intervention. There are some signals given by the Envelope of Love/ Divinity/ Providence/ Intuition – whatever one may choose to call it. The spiritual maturity of a person lies in his ability to perceive these signals. Highly evolved are those who heed these signals and accept the guidance offered therein.
Listing out evidences in support for my theory is unnecessary for the Believer, and of no consequence anyway to the Skeptic
, but I can emphatically say that the events and experiences of my life reinforce my belief- that “good always comes to those who are and do good”. It may be a question of time for the Kavacha to garner strength, or for us to become mature to heed its advice or to act upon it…. but the Envelope of Love that a person unconsciously and unconditionally fosters is a Potent Armour that will protect him for sure.
Ohhhhh !!!!
im actually left speechless!! uve left me dumb with surprise
Verrrrrry good parallel from mythology and well fitted to our context. Superb…
i agree with ur description of the virtual kavacha.
This kavacha is strengthened by ones own thoughts and beliefs about oneself. Stronger ur faith in urself is, stronger is the control u have in urself and less u get perturbed or provoked or distracted from ur goal. Ur faith in ur abilities will take u near ur goals. And all thru ur journey, its this envelope of faith that helps u find ur way out and around blockades. There may be times ones own faith can get shaken or weaken and its here that ones firends, relatives and well wishers play their role by reinforcing ur faith in urself by motivation or showing u the right direction. Our prayers to god actually are nothing but prayers for keeping our kavachas intact so that we may tread the right path.
Nice blog..
I am believer..
i do believe that our thoughts and deeds shape our lives..for good or bad…
i have also felt very blessed to meet so many well wishers in my life…freinds, teachers, peers, bosses and subordinated..
i have done well more often than not so far..i have enjoyed those moments..but what makes me happy the most is to see ppl who celebrate my success..someone who wishes u good…who wishes u do well in life…the envelope of love as u call it..
i also agree that when u do something bad it returns to u as well…as u said it cannot be explained by evidence..it has to be experienced..my experiences so far, especially in the last few months have only reinforced my belief in the power of thoughts..
thoughts good or bad..realised or unrealised..once born becomes a part of this universe..and they come back to affect you in due course of time in either way as the case may be..and hence it is very essential that we control our thoughts by having only the useful ones…and that will require
hard practice..i am still trying!
Thanks for the comments Mani ! I had only written about good deeds forming an armour….but ofcourse thoughts are the seeds for any action…good or bad. Your comment is itself like a blog:)
Jag good stuff ! I had not thought about the self-faith angle at all…my theory was totally externality driven. You have a different perspective – laying more emphasis on self-concept rather than one’s deeds. Yes, in times when our thinking selves, self concept let us down, then the Kavacha formed by external deeds helps I guess…
good stuff!! i too am a believer in the “good always happens to those who are and do good” thing.. but need reinforcement at times from posts like yours so that the hope within does not die down
Yes…reinforcement is needed untill we gain our faith again…
As I said earlier…its just a question of time…and the Kavacha will itself help – through some God-send…mostly in the disguise of our well wishers…who are part of the virtuous cycle of love:)
hey deepa…very well written…personally i m a spiritually bankrupt person with thoughts seldom directed in such directions but yes cant argue with what u say…do keep coming up with such thoughts and setting our encounter with the sleeping bit of our soul..
